Get to Know Kevin
Hi, I’m Kevin East. I am the President of The Mentoring Alliance – a ministry dedicated to mobilizing godly people into the lives of kids and families, to provide tangible help and eternal hope. I’m part of the speaker team for Family Matters, and have been writing articles for this blog, Following to Lead, since 2011.
Years ago I realized it couldn’t get any better than the girl I was currently dating. I was able to quickly snatch her up to be my wife. More than ten years later, Stephanie and I have 5 kids. Out of a deep desire to care for the fatherless, we still foster and mentor kids as well. We currently live in the piney woods of East Texas, near Tyler.
My wife and I find ourselves chasing the kids around most of the time when I’m not at work – but when given the chance – we love to sit on our front porch rocking chairs together at night to unwind. Being a godly husband and great father is of utmost importance to me. For this reason, you will see much of my blog space is dedicated to these topics…but more on that at the bottom of this page.
Our Adoption Story
Like many stories of fostering and adoption, our daughter came to us in the midst of tragedy. We first heard about her while watching our local news. A few years ago, they did a follow-up story on our family. It is a story of God’s grace and redemption:
The focus of this blog is on following, leading, family, and fostering/adoption. It is my thought that if you are following Jesus, then you can lead well inside and outside of your home. The majority of my posts will be on one of these topics.
WHAT IS FOLLOWING TO LEAD?
At some point in the future, I think we’ll look back at this time and realize we idolized leadership. Thousands of books on leadership have been written, but few focus on the foundation of Christian leadership – following Jesus.
This blog is aimed at young families and young leaders. I hope to provide intensely practical biblical instruction to help people be effective at home and in their place of work.
This is my personal blog. These are my personal thoughts and in no way do the thoughts, writings, or ramblings on this blog directly represent anyone other than myself.
