ABOUT

I am the Executive Director of Ministries for Pine Cove, one of the premier christian camps in the country. Pine Cove has 8 independent summer camps in Texas, partnerships with other non-profits, and runs camps in other countries as well.

The focus of this blog is on following, leading, family, and fostering. It is my thought that if you can follow well, then you can lead well inside and outside of your home.  The majority of my posts will be on one of these topics.

WHAT IS “FOLLOWING TO LEAD?”

At some point in the future, I think we’ll look back at this time and realize we idolized leadership.  Thousands of books on leadership have been written, but few focus on the foundation of leadership – the ability to follow well.

This blog is aimed at young families and young leaders. I hope to provide intensely practical biblical instruction to help people be effective at home and in their place of work. Here are a couple of popular posts in each of the categories:

MY FAMILY:

Years ago I realized it couldn’t get any better than the girl I was currently dating. I was able to quickly snatch her up to be my wife. Eight years later, Stephanie and I have a 2 boys and a little girl. Out of a deep desire to care for the fatherless, we are also foster parents. We currently have a foster son and daughter who we’d love to adopt in the future.

We currently live in the Piney woods of East Texas, near Tyler. My wife and I find ourselves chasing the kids around most of the time when I’m not at work – but when given the chance – we love to sit in our front porch rocking chairs together at night just to unwind.

Being a Godly husband and great father is of utmost importance to me. For this reason, you will see much of my blog space is dedicated to these topics.

MY BIOGRAPHY:

In 11th grade I realized I wanted to spend the rest of my life investing in people. That eventually landed me in full-time ministry.

I graduated from Louisiana State University. During my college years I spent much time with ministries like Young Life, Campus Crusade and even worked at summer camp.

After college I went on staff with a church in Baton Rouge. My focus was the student ministries. Although I loved that church and the people around me, I missed the setting of the temporary community of summer camp.

In 1997 I came on staff with Pine Cove as the Director of the new high school camp, the Shores.  Now in 2011, and a few roles later, I oversee all the camps, ministries and programs of Pine Cove.  It involves everything from overseeing the hiring and training of 1,300 college summer staff, to teaching future leaders throughout Latin America.
